Forming Intergenerational Connections

Sydney S., Vice President of the University of Florida chapter, shares her experience connecting with a senior at her chapter’s Valentines Day makeover.

Today’s makeover was so much fun. While painting my new friend Heleen's nails, I learned so much about her. She told me how she used to be a professional acrobat, and I learned about all of the amazing things she did in her career. It was so nice talking to her, listening to her story, and hearing her words of wisdom. One piece of advice she gave me was that I should do or try to do whatever I want in life. She said, “don't wait for something to happen to finally do something, just do it!” She was so encouraging and kind. I really enjoyed painting her nails and having a conversation with her.
