From recipes passed down through generations to memorable moments over store-bought cookie dough, there is something special about cookies.
The #dough4good campaign captures this spirit in actionable ways with the goal of raising $10,000 for the GlamourGals teen leadership program to make a heartfelt difference in the lives of teens and isolated seniors.
Why it matters
Up to 60% of the 1.4 million residents in senior homes across the U.S. never receive visitors, and ageism remains a prevalent prejudice in our society. This social isolation leads to increased cognitive decline, as well as decreased physical health.
According to recent research being conducted for the World Health Organization, “Mixing younger and older people in various settings, combined with educating younger people about the aging process and its misconceptions, works quickly to reduce ageism.”
#dough4good raises critical funds for the GlamourGals teen leadership training program, which provides education and resources for intergenerational volunteering in 100 communities around the U.S. GlamourGals volunteers provide a service to seniors that restores their sense of dignity and improves their self-esteem.
