680 Route 202 Bridgewater, NJ 08807
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bridgewater, NJ (May 7, 2012) GlamourGals is proud to announce that the Pingry School's chapter will be celebrating Mother's Day with the residents of The Chelsea at Bridgewater on Saturday, May 12th at 2:00 am.The Pingry School chapter was founded in 2010 by Emily McCormick, currently a senior at the Pingry School, who learned about the program after reading an article in Seventeen Magazine.
One of Pingry's annual events is the Intergenerational Prom, where senior citizens from various homes in New Jersey, take buses out to Pingry for a Prom Night; complete with Pingry students as waiters, performances by the jazz band, and lots of dancing. It was from this event that Emily was inspired to start the GlamourGals chapter at Pingry and to offer special events to other seniors.
"I really enjoyed my experience with the Intergenerational Prom and wanted to expand upon the relationships we create with the men and women who attend. My favorite part is seeing the appreciation on their faces- realizing that just conversing with someone or painting their nails could make someone's day,” Emily says.
To raise awareness in the community about GlamourGals, the Pingry School invited local Girl Scouts and church groups to volunteer alongside them to learn about the program, and to start chapters of their own.
