FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (November 29,2011)– On Friday, December 9, 2011, GlamourGals' adult volunteers will participate in the GG mission of providing complimentary makeovers, manicures, and companionship to the residents of Brookdale Senior Living's Robin RunVillage.
Adult volunteers will be joined by special guests Washington Township Schools Superintendent, Dr. Nikki Woodson and WIBC's Terri Stacy.
"It is an honor to lend my support to the GlamourGals Mega Makeover as a volunteer at Robin Run Village. All women want to feel special and if I can give back even in a small way by putting a smile on someone's face or warming someone's heart. I want to be a part of that. I believe our value in life is determined by what we give to others and not by what we obtain or receive. This is the perfect time of year to give back!" says Dr. Woodson.
Volunteers will be gifting pink scarves made by Indiana knitters, many of whom learned to knit at the GlamourGals Hot Pink Party in September. The Starstruck Cat Studio in Greenwood, IN took it on as their special project and are donating multiple handmade scarves created by knitters, crocheters, and weavers.
"As an adult volunteer for GlamourGals, it gives me a different outlook in life. Just a couple of hours in a day with the seniors leaves a long lasting impression of joy. We all get caught up in our personal problems and busy lives. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and reach out to others for simple companionship. GlamourGals teaches teens and adults to be compassionate, which can feel like a lost art in the simple act of humanity," says Paulette Dolores-Duke who has been to multiple GlamourGals makeovers.
As Robin Run Village does not have a local GlamourGals chapter to visit them monthly, GlamourGals hosts MegaMakeovers 3-4 times annually to support the residents and to further engage the community in raising awareness for GlamourGals and Robin Run residents.
