GlamourGals Glammy Scholarship Awards Reaches New Heights, Presenting Three $1000 Scholarships And Recognizing Entrepreneur, Claudia Chan

NEW YORK, NY (April 23,2012) - GlamourGals Foundation will host The Glammy Scholarship Awards on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at LIM College Townhouse, located at 12 E. 53rd Street, New York, NY 10022. The event is being held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and volunteers and supporters will be coming together to celebrate the GlamourGals mission and its commitment to serving seniors in local communities.

The Inspiration Glammy Award will be presented to Claudia Chan, a media entrepreneur and motivational women’s lifestyle expert, who recently launched, and has devoted 12 years to entertaining and empowering women.

"I am so honored to be an Inspiration Glammy Winner, as the GlamourGals mission to become the voice for women in their communities aligns with my mission to celebrate the potential of remarkable women changemakers," Claudia says.

Recording artist, Dion Roy will be performing at The Glammy Scholarship Awards. GlamourGals’ Advisory Board member and TV personality, Julie Alexandria will host the event for the second year in a row and Caryn Zweig, an Advisory Board Member, is Chairperson of the event.

For the first time in GlamourGals history, three outstanding volunteers, including one Chapter President, one Co-President and one Rally Girl, will receive a $1000 scholarship. Members of GlamourGals Executive, Advisory, and Board of Directors voted on the three winners based on anonymous applications that were submitted.

These three volunteers stand out as leaders in representing the GlamourGals mission to connect and empower two generations of women. Carly Roman is the Chapter President winner, from South Side High School in Rockville Centre, NY. Co-President Kieu Hanh Nguyen, from Mechanicsburg Area High School in Mechanicsburg, PA, won the second award. The Rally Girl who won the third scholarship is Stacy Mylin, also from Mechanicsburg Area High School.

The winner of the Daniel and Lucille Valerio Outstanding Volunteer Award, which goes to a volunteer who has excelled at making an impact in the lives of seniors, is Stephanie Azzopardi from Susan E. Wagner High School in Staten Island, NY. This award was founded in 2011 by Executive Board Member Louis Valerio in honor of his parents.

There will be a live auction featuring local New York City artists’ interpretations of a hot pink brick wall. This is one of GlamourGals’ most unique and exciting fundraising strategies. The artists participating are Allison Schlegel, Brian Novatny, John Henry, and Predrag Dimitrijevic.

GlamourGals would like to thank LIM College for hosting The Glammy Scholarship Awards and Sweet Street Desserts for providing delicious refreshments.
