Reflections on the GG Experience

This week our blog comes from Jenna, President of the Mahopac High School chapter of GlamourGals, who shares why GlamourGals is important to her.

GlamourGals has played a very significant role in my life. I started the Mahopac High School Chapter when I started high school. Starting the chapter was easily one of the best decisions I've ever made. Going into high school, I was very quiet and could not imagine myself taking on a leadership role.

Since freshman year, I have improved my communication skills, leadership skills, confidence and patience. I have learned how to work with a group, to take initiative, and how to handle seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia. I have gained experience in scheduling events and working with people of all ages. I have definitely come out of my shell a lot because of GlamourGals. I've had the opportunity to change the lives of seniors, simply by doing their nails/makeup and talking to them.

GlamourGals has given me the opportunities to help out in the community and change people's lives for the better. Hearing seniors constantly thank us for all we do is so rewarding. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities and experiences that GG has given me and I can't wait to start or join a chapter in college!
