St. Jean Baptiste High School Senior to be Recognized by GlamourGals Service Organization

National Group to Honor Meilyn Cruz at 10th Annual Glammy Scholarship Award Ceremony

NEW YORK, N.Y. (June 2014) –GlamourGals is a national nonprofit that organizes opportunities for teen volunteers to provide complimentary beauty makeovers and companionship to women living in senior homes.  This year, the organization will recognize Meilyn Cruz for both her volunteer efforts as well as her academic achievements at the 10th annual Glammy Scholarship Awards in New York City on Saturday, June 7th.

A senior at St. Jean Baptiste High School, Cruz has been volunteering with GlamourGals for the past two years and is the President of the school’s chapter of GlamourGals as well as the Co-President of the National Honor Society.  As a result of her continued commitment to serving seniors in her community she has provided more than 40 volunteer hours building relationships with seniors at the Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home and will be awarded a full Service Scholarship to attend St. Peter’s University in Jersey City.

“I am honored to be recognized by GlamourGals at the Annual Glammy Scholarship Awards this year,” said Cruz. “While doing something I love, I have been able to not only meet and learn from so many amazing women at the Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home, but also receive a scholarship to college.”
