"A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal." -Steve Maraboli
My first GlamourGals meeting was a memory that I doubt I will ever forget. It was a spectacular and a new adventure for me. For me personally, helping others and cheering them up from their sadness makes me feel better about myself while in the process making someone else feel better.
I got to talk with a few senior citizens and it went better than I thought. I love talking to people and have no problem, but still, I kept thinking to myself, "How am I going to start a nice, smooth, and flowing conversation with them?" But when I got there, I painted a lady's nail with the help of my friend because I have never in my life painted nails.
The lady began to talk to me and we started to have a nice conversation. We had very similar interests such as being book lovers, nature lovers, and people who wanted to make others happy. I will never forget the advice she gave me. She told me to never stop smiling because my smile brought her happiness and it made me look beautiful. Also, to be myself, because my personality makes me who I am today and no one can replace me.
Now, I can't wait to go back and bring more smiles onto the senior citizens' faces.
