More than a Manicure

Today’s journal is by GG Volunteer Maggie from New York, who learned that her time at the senior home is more than just the manicures she provides the ladies.

Today, my GlamourGals group went to Oak Hill Manor. It was our second time going there. Last time we went I did the nails of four different women, but today I only did one. In our hour and half of being there I spent the entire time listening to her amazing life story.

She did told me stories about meeting Shirley Temple during one of the many jobs she did throughout her lifetime. I had so much fun today because it wasn’t just about doing her nails, it was about allowing her to have the freedom to talk for as long as she wanted. Throughout our long conversation she mentioned many times how wonderful it was to have amazing young women come here and do this for them even though it was a beautiful day outside.
