Cherishing the good and bad
A little over a week ago, I went back to Riverview Estates with the Cinnaminson chapter of GlamourGals. I was so excited to see the ladies, as I hadn't been able to go all summer. When we arrived I saw a lot of the usual ladies that come for a manicure. However, there was a new lady there who was sitting quietly, named Hortense. When I asked her if she wanted her nails done, and what color, she nodded and pointed to a bright red. As I did her nails, I talked to her about the fall weather and the jewelry she had on. When our conversation started, she was very quiet and didn't really say much. As we talked more, she started to open up and told me that her husband had given her the necklace she had on, and there was a picture of him inside it. She then told me more about her family. Hortense had 6 children, however, she told me that 3 of them had died because of various reasons. What she told me next was something that I'll never forget. She told me,
"Cherish the time you have with someone, even the hard moments, because you never know which moment will be the last."
Hortense made me realize that I need to slow down and enjoy everything in my life right now, because you never know what could happen.
