TEHS Alumni Makeover April, 2014
On Saturday, July 28, the Thomas Edison High School GlamourGals chapter held an alumni makeover as former and current members came together to volunteer at Margaret Tietz Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Jamaica, NY.
This makeover allowed past volunteers to reconnect with the women they had an ongoing relationship with in high school. This makeover in particular allowed alumni to spend time with and let residents know they'll never be forgotten no matter how many years have passed.
TEHS Alum and current Lawrence University Chapter President, Tammy Tran, states, "It's heartwarming to revisit the magic of a GlamourGals makeover. I loved interacting with volunteers from my high school chapter and witnessing the passion that the chapter still has for GG's mission."
The chapter also had the honor of introducing the GG program to two volunteers interested in starting chapters at their schools. These teens had never participated in a GlamourGals makeover and were moved and inspired.
"My first experience was amazing. It was great getting to spend time with seniors," said Britney, a student from The Scholars Academy in Far Rockaway, NY. "I really want to bring this to my school."
Thank you to the Thomas Edison High School chapter and alumni for hosting a makeover that truly exhibited the true meaning of GlamourGals. Through makeovers, manicures, and heartwarming conversations, old friendships were rekindled and new ones began.
