Continued impact throughout the pandemic.

During this public health crisis, senior homes across the country immediately restricted visitors, causing senior isolation to reach nearly 100%. Through the forward thinking and passionate action of our volunteer network, GlamourGals quickly pivoted 20 years of in-person programming to continue to serve our young volunteers and reach isolated seniors.

#MyDearFriend

Across the country, our chapters and supporters are writing personal “My Dear Friend” notes to the seniors they would visit pre-pandemic. We feel that a handwritten note from a friend mimics the intention behind a makeover and continues to build companionship.

Coloring Companions

To preserve the memories that GG has instilled for over 20 years, GG Alumna and Artist-in-Residence Samyira Lewis cleverly translated program pictures into illustrated pages, creating a GlamourGals coloring book. Our hope is that Coloring Companions provides an interactive tool that tells the seniors we serve that, despite the pandemic, we’re still there for them - preserving the memories of conversations, togetherness, relationships, and community leadership that make the program so impactful.

OUR PROGRAMS ARE CRITICAL THE SENIOR RESIDENTS WE SERVE.

“The residents enjoyed the [zoom] trivia activity so much. I feel like some have opened up and are more interactive.”

— Ella Aguilar, Director of Recreation, Ilan Fare Community Center

“I would like to commend how successful GlamourGals has been in adapting with these times. Especially now that the elder population needs us, and GlamourGals is truly the best organization to offer such support.”

— Erin Hausser, GG Alumna
