Welcome guest blogger, Vilte Sucaite Holstad! After hearing about GG, she was inspired and wanted to share her experience!During my search for new projects and interesting people to meet, I decided to go to as many events as I can possibly get invited to. (Ok, I'll admit- I don't always wait for an invitation..). Life has a great way to bring amazing people into your life, as it did into mine when I attended a networking event a few months ago.
Rachel Doyle was also by herself at the bar when I came up and we started chatting. I guess I was too busy talking about myself, because only after 15 minutes into our conversation, I found out she was the founder of the wonderful non-profit organization called GlamourGals! I was getting more and more excited as I was listening to Rachel speak about her passion for this amazing charity. When just 17 years old, this young entrepreneur was inspired by her grandmother to connect young teenage girls with elderly women. She has chapters all over the country of girls who visit senior homes and provide not only makeoverss and facials, but also dignity and self confidence to ladies that might not get to indulge in beauty routines often. In return they learn from their elders, women who have so much to share!
One of Rachel's main goals is to spread the word about GlamourGals- this will encourage and motivate more girls to get involved.. She has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Montel Williams as well as Glamour Magazine, Cosmopolitan and The New York Times.
It was so refreshing to meet someone like her. At such a young age, she was already changing lives of women all over the country. Proving that anything is possible if you have the passion for it!
Most recently Rachel invited me to a 10 year birthday party for GlamourGals. So I grabbed my very pregnant sister and we jetted off to the charity event where we snacked on edamame, snapped pictures, and entered a raffle (we won some scarves!). The place was packed- clearly letting us know that GlamourGals is not going anywhere. It will continue to grow and thrive while inspiring us all to never give up and encourage each other to see the beauty and bravery in ourselves.
