The 2012 Glammy Scholarship Awards

On Saturday, April 28th, GlamourGals volunteers, supporters, and parents, came together to spotlight GG volunteers GG volunteers and their commitment to serving seniors in their communities at LIM College's Townhouse in New York, NY. This annual event is held to inspire supporters and to celebrate volunteers and share their achievements. Click here to see Bruce Cullen's video of The Glammy Scholarship Awards reception.
Guests walked down the hot pink carpet, mingled with volunteers, and indulged in light refreshments including red velvet cupcakes and Toffee Crunch Blondie brownies courtesy of Sweet Street Desserts. Additionally, guests were able to bid on art work donated by NYC artists, Brian Novatny, Predrag Dimitrijevic, John Henry, and Allison Schlegal.

Three exemplary chapter leaders received a $1,000 Glammy Scholarship Award. Carly Roman, a senior at South Side High School in Rockville Centre, NY won the Chapter President Glammy Award, the Co-President Award went to Kieu Hanh Nguyen of Mechanicsburg High School in Mechanicsburg PA, and the Rally Girl Award winner was Stacy Mylin, also of Mechanicsburg High School. This year's Daniel and Lucille Valerio Outstanding Volunteer Award went to Stephanie Azzopardi of Susan E. Wagner High School in Staten Island, NY. This year's Inspiration Glammy Award was given to Claudia Chan, founder of ClaudiaChan.com.

Caryn Zweig, GlamourGals Advisory Board Member, was the Chairperson of this prestigious event.

"As the Chairperson,  I was able to be instrumental in shaping the event to highlight the importance of our GG volunteers and recognize their amazing service to their respective communities," she notes.

Julie Alexandria hosted The Glammy Scholarship Awards for the second year and guests were treated to a musical performance by recording artist, Dion Roy.

This year, GlamourGals hosted a Pre Glammys makeover at Cobble Hill Health Center in Brooklyn, NY where they were joined by volunteers from the St. Joseph High and Thomas Edison High School Chapters as well as board members. Click here to see photos from the makeover.
