GlamourGals welcomes Mary Pennisi to the Advisory Board. Mary is an Associate in the New York office of Duane Morris, LLP and her practice focuses on commercial litigation, securities regulation and litigation, and white-collar criminal defense.
At Duane Morris, LLP, Mary is a member of the Women’s Initiative and helped spearhead a pro bono project aimed at assisting young women who are victims of commercial sex trafficking.
Mary earned her J.D. degree magna cum laude from Fordham University School of Law in 2011, where she served as the Associate Editor of the Fordham Urban Law Journal, Staff Editor of Fordham Journal of Corporate and Financial Law, and the Criminal Procedure Editor of Moot Court. She graduated summa cum laude from the Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College in 2008 as valedictorian with a B.A. in Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics. In college, Mary served as a Senior Research Fellow for Congressman Edolphus Towns and initiated a volunteer program to help ESL students and recent immigrants learn English by partnering them with English-speaking volunteers.
"I decided to become involved in GG after working on pro bono projects at my law firm, providing legal assistance to women and children in need. GG’s mission immediately appealed to me because it offers truly unique opportunities to serve women in senior homes, a population that is too frequently neglected, and facilitates multigenerational experiences that are priceless for both the women and young volunteers," says Mary.
"I previously worked on a multigenerational initiative at the United Nations and observed the great value in bringing women of different generations together to collaborate on a common cause. I greatly admire how GG builds such strong multigenerational connections over a common interest and inspires young women to become leaders and make a difference in others’ lives. While the women enjoy companionship and makeovers, the volunteers gain an entirely new perspective of the world, which only women with so much life experience and wisdom can provide. I am thoroughly amazed by the creative way in which GG facilitates such multigenerational conversations and simultaneously empowers women of all ages. I am now honored to be part of GG’s Advisory Board."
