Marisa's involvement in GlamourGals came about through a chance meeting with Rachel Doyle.
"I had the pleasure of sitting next to Rachel Doyle at a women's luncheon we were both attending that featured women doctors specializing in cancer. It was an amazing experience listening to their accomplishments and I turned to Rachel and said, "Wow, I wish I did something that is that impactful to society." Rachel then proceeded to ask me what I did and spoke with such convincing compassion that (what little she knew) what I did made a difference, which was just so impressive to me. I then asked her what she did and she told me about GlamourGals, making light of her role until I started interrogating her because I found it so interesting. It was when I really got a better glimpse at what she had created that I was just so floored and touched by her dedication and passion to GlamourGals. I had been looking for a cause to volunteer with for some time, but had never really felt a connection that could keep me involved for the long haul. Until I met Rachel and became involved in GlamourGals!" says Marisa.
It was the perfect timing of finding the right organization to volunteer with and wanting to dedicate more time to a charity organization whose cause made a lasting impression. Marisa has been involved with GlamourGals for over 5 years and is continously amazed by the power of a simple act of compassion that Rachel has brillantly captured. She continues to be amazed at how Rachel has connected such a simple activity to such a deep emotionally rewarding outcome and that is enough to want to keep her involved in anyway possible.
Marisa's favorite part of the GlamourGals program? "My favorite aspect hands down is the ability to see how young women can changed an elderly woman's day in a minute. To allow these young ladies to experience how carrying out a simple act of compassion can so postiviely impact someone's day is just amazing. It is genius how Rachel connected such a simple activity to such a deep emotionally rewarding outcome."
Marisa holds a BA from Gettysburg College and an MBA from the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College. Marisa and her husband live in Middletown, NJ. She is an avid traveler and lover of theater in her spare time.
GlamourGals would like to thanks Marisa for all of her support these past few years!
