Leadership, Compassion, Service and Love

"Today we had our last event for 2014 and what a year it has been! Our volunteers have formed relationships with each and every resident we come across and we have built a family over at Riverview Estates. Having started this chapter a year ago, I am so proud of how far we have come. Still, to this day, we are seeing more and more residents at each visit and more and more volunteers interested in joining our chapter. I am so amazed at how appreciative each and every woman is after we finish a manicure or makeover. I am reminded each time we visit how important we are to them and I am so grateful for that.I also experienced something very hard today at our last event of the year. As I was walking through the hallways of the nursing home looking for women interested in getting pampered for the day, I noticed on a table that one of our favorite residents, Joan, had passed away on December 10th. I was brought to tears because Joan was someone that reminded me of my grandmother and I always sought out to look for her each time we visited. Though she never talked much when we visited, I could tell how much she wanted to be a part of it. I am so grateful that I got to be a part of Joan's life and will miss her dearly.

GlamourGals has taught me so much about leadership, compassion, service, and love.

I never thought that I, nor my volunteers, would form such strong bonds with the woman at the nursing home. Knowing that I am going of to college next year, I am glad that I have such amazing volunteers that will carry this chapter on to do great things. But, for now, we still have several more visits before I leave in August. Bring on 2015! The Cinnaminson GlamourGals are ready for an awesome year!!"
