[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]When she walked into the room her eyes were sorrowful and bland. I grabbed her a chair and we started talking about her adventurous life that had been stopped when she was put into this elderly home. Phyllis told me about her family, friends, and the places she had been, all the dancing she had done and the people she had met. I got to know this wonderful women and I could already tell her spirit was being lifted. At that moment I felt an energy I never felt before. I could not put it into words... I knew I had touched someone's soul as they touched mine.

Glamour Gals is an experience I am so lucky to have taken. Volunteering changes the way I look at life and shaped me to become a better person. I was able to obtain an understanding of these beautiful elderly women's lives, and gain an experience I will never forget. When I painted the residents nails I realized the joy in their eyes. But when I put makeup on their faces I could feel the time stop for them, and they were young again.

Phyllis, the resident I felt my strongest connection with, is a beautiful vibrant woman with white hair, light eyes, and pale skin. When she walked into the room her eyes were sorrowful and bland. As I applied her nail polish, I saw a smirk emerging. After her nails I gave her a facial and her smirk turned into a beaming grin. Her eyes lit up like the sky on a sunny day and she had the biggest smile from ear to ear. At that moment I felt an energy I never felt before. I could not put it into words but I felt a tear forming at the corner of my eye. I knew I had touched someone's soul as they touched mine. Phyllis, a few other girls, and I talked for hours. Before we knew it, night had come and it was time to leave. Phyllis' grin never left her face and I could tell her day was made. But more than anything else, it is what Phyllis taught me that I would never forget. Phyllis taught me that good memories will uplift our soul, happy occasions will bring a smile to our faces, and we should always thrive.
