[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." -Leo Buscaglia

Leo Buscaglia must have been a part of a similar GlamourGals community. He stated relevance. Relevance to my minds' extent of how much joy I bring to women each time my chapter and I visit a nursing home. Since I've attended chapter makeovers from freshman year of high school, I never thought how much a smile, handshake or simple thank you may signify one's day.

Realizing this, I can say that my most memorable Glamour Girls experience was when I met a disabled woman, Lily, last year. Lily was unable to communicate, unlike the other ladies. As she placed her hands on the table, I walked over to her, smiling- she was so excited for her manicure. Holding a red polish for her, I told her that it would bring out her beauty and pretty eyes. Once I spoke, they widened as her smile glistened. Painting each nail one by one, I soon finished. Lily was ecstatic and started to flaunt her fresh, new manicure. After I left with my chapter, I can only imagine how big her smile lasted or how many friends she showed off her new red nails to. As it crossed my mind, I couldn't help but to smile. My humble, generous action led to Lily's happiness for the day. Gestures like these make me happy, simply because I made somebody smile.

Lily impacted my life and changed my outlook on it. Small actions of courtesy can leave a lasting impression. I know that when my chapter returns to the nursing home, Lily would be patiently waiting for a brand new manicure with her sparkling smile. For when I attend upcoming GlamourGals makeovers, it will be so much more than just a couple of laughs and smiles. It will become an unforgettable memory to remember that I was the reason why someone had a wonderful, remarkable day.
